Good text/lab book – with a caveat 5th Edition notes: I used to have students in my GIS class buy a textbook and a separate lab manual, but the price for two books was very high. I’ve used the 5th edition of this book for the last 2 years as the sole required book in my introductory GIS class, and it works very well in that role. The lab steps are detailed and well described, and my students seem to find it pitched well for the course. I assign independent projects each week to be sure they get some practice thinking outside…
