Adds factory-quality built-in nav to my new Mazda for a reasonable price My Mazda 6 has a manual transmission, which does not come with the fancier options such as a nav system, sun roof, leather seats, etc. Given that the console is already there and everything is in place to provide built-in nav, it would be disappointing to have to still use the external Nuvi that I’ve been using for many years on my previous car. In the past (about 10 years ago), my experience found that a built-in nav option adds about $2K to the cost of the car, which seems outrageous given the $200-$300 cost of an external unit. So I was very pleased to find that I could add nav to my new car by just getting this chip for about the price of an external unit. It works perfectly! Just slide it into the SD slot next to the USB and power ports in the center console, and instant nav! I haven’t used the system much yet, but it integrates well with everything else.
